About the Wildflower Fiber Group

Welcome to beautiful East Texas and the Wildflower Fiber group!

We are fiber producers and artisans in East Texas who decided 15 years ago to gather all our spinning friends and spend a weekend knitting, spinning, dyeing and having a good time! The idea took off, and has become a springtime tradition. As the retreat grew, so did our friendships, knowledge, creativity and desire to ensure that traditional methods were passed on to the next generation.

We still have our Wildflower Fiber Retreat annually in March at beautiful Camp Tyler, as well as offering a Wildflower Knitting Camp in August, as part of our efforts to promote fiber arts in the community.

The rolling, forested hills around Tyler are home to our farms, ranches and studios where we produce fine spinning fibers, fiber related tools, jewelry, buttons, soaps, yarns and handspun, knitted and woven products. Individual and group lessons in the fiber arts are also available.

• Bella Bodom Ranch is home to the finest angora goats, producing heavenly mohair.

• Judy Seaton raises milk goats and creates fragrant handcrafted soaps in addition to caring for shetland sheep.

• At Golden Fleece Farm, Joyce and Barney Terrell nurture a multicolored flock of shetland sheep for handspinners and handcraft fine wool combs, triangle and other looms and fiber related tools.

• Mitchie Ryan, of Dei Gratia Farm, concentrates on producing lovely, fine angora bunny fiber and more.

• Llamas are the passion of Ouijan Vinson at Olde Oaks Farm. She hosts 15 prize winning llamas bred for producing fine fiber for discriminating handspinners.

• Judy Pritchett, award winning handweaver, is famous for her “assemblage” work. Utilizing handwoven pieces and “found objects”, she creates one of a kind collages.

• “The Pearly Queen”, Midge Jackson, crafts buttons of dichroic and other glass, as well as handknitted wire jewelry featuring vintage and one of a kind buttons and beads. She produces hand knitted and woven items and hand dyed yarns as well.

• Diane Brown, living the good life at Red Oak Farm, designs fine jewelry and creates unique soaps, lotions and other fiber related items.
