A Spinner’s Tale farm lies at the end of a winding sandy road in the tall pines of East Texas. In this small corner of the county, lives Judy Seaton, an accomplished herbalist, spinner and weaver.
As a working farm, A Spinner’s Tale is home to a number of goats, sheep, chickens and rabbits. Judy milks her many goats daily. Then she uses the milk to produce all natural, mild soap enhanced with home grown herbs and essential oils. Each spring she shears the Shetland sheep that she raises, saving, washing and selling their fine elastic fiber for hand-spinning.

Often she can be found on the porch of her studio, plucking an angora rabbit, stirring a dye-pot, or spinning on her antique great wheel. Judy weaves fine textiles in original designs on her loom, “Old Betsy”, built in 1837 or on her newer smaller loom. Judy also has several contemporary style spinning wheels on which to spin her Shetland wool.
Judy’s herbalist training contributes to the care of her family as well as to her accomplishments in the kitchen. She has been fondly dubbed “kitchen mistress” for the Wildflower Fiber Retreat and the Wildflower Knitting Camp.
